This is not a blog about math or data processing.  Instead, it’s a forum for discussing the numbers and decision-making schemes we encounter in the world.

At Edge Solutions, we’re unabashed nerds, and we love crunching through data.  But we’re less keen on numbers for numbers’ sake.  Data should drive decisions.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the numbers around us: miles per gallon, calories, cell phone minutes, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and so on.  Most people don’t spend their days crunching these numbers, but we act on them constantly, in ways large and small.  So we’d like to highlight the schemes that are clever, expose the ones that are rotten, and in general inject a little curiosity into our data-driven world.

    Hi Branden,

I have been waiting for someone to write an article about inaccessible Siri! What a fabulous piece. I’m wondering if you might let me use it (with your tagline and photo if you’d like) on abledbody.com – we are all about assistive technology that enables people with disabilities. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you again for raising awareness – the Iphone 4s is GREAT but definitely see limitations with Siri for people who are deaf (Myself included.)
